Holy Spirit – The Power Within

Once, when shown the majesty and force of Niagra Falls, a man mentioned that it was the greatest unused power in the universe. His friend did not agree saying the greatest unused power in the universe is the Holy Spirit of the Living God. I absolutely agree!

Ephesians1:3 “Having believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit” Jesus says that when he leaves, he would send his Spirit in his place. His  power within us! Now, that you know the Holy Spirit lives within you, (yes you!)we can all harness that power by doing three things. Listening, Letting Go, and Learning…………………All of us have trouble with this while living on this planet we call home. (By the way, I am only visiting this planet!)

First step, Letting Go~Let go of the control over your life, truly let it go and let him take over completely. Letting go is difficult because of our circumstances in life and our human nature wanting to be in constant control of our destiny. I can do this, I can handle this situation~ jobs~family~life in general. Releasing control is turning to prayer~real prayer that asks Jesus to “take the wheel”.

Second step, Listening~Once you release control of your life, listen, truly listen and find out what God has in store for you. Allow the Holy Spirit to be your guide.  The Holy Spirit is a small still voice inside of you~frequently quiet and sometimes shouting! We only have to listen and hear what God has to say. Here is the hard part, a lot of times we discover that the Father will give you what you need, not necessarily what you want! Your will not mine, be done. Once we let go and listen, then comes the learning~ we learn to become better equipped for what life hands us.

Third step, Learning. We learn to spend time daily with Christ and that he fulfills us. When we feed the spirit, it becomes stronger yet! Food for your Spirit is the Bible~the words are like honey to feed you and give you strength. I cannot tell you the number of times the perfect words have been spoken to my heart during those quiet times with my bible in the early morning hour.

We learn that the Holy Spirit asks us to give him the control and therefore make our lives easier. God does not want you to struggle or feel badly, he wants what is best for you. He takes great pleasure in giving us gifts in return for the asking and turning to him. Don’t behave like a fool that runs constantly from one crisis to the next.  My life has changed dramatically since I released myself from the day to day problems. I simply turn them over to him and feel relief. I have seen this happen countless times in my life.

You have the power of the Holy Spirit within you now. Romans 8:9 “You however are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the the Spirit of God lives in you.”You must ask the spirit for guidance and then listen, really listen! Then and only then do you act because you allowed it to take control. Have you “Let go and let God today?”

About the author

LChavez I grew up with a different point of view of the world around me. I traveled extensively with my parents because my father was in the Air Force. This travel gave me the chance to do and see things most children only dream about. This zest for life has followed me into my adult years. My love of life and the joy of the world have also been a major influence on my artwork. I am a painter as a profession and am absolutely joyful to share the good news through my artworks. I specialize in Marine life, beach scenes, and maritime art. I work in watercolors and acrylics with an occasional foray into oils. The summer of 2010 saw some major changes in my life. My husband Chris and I built and decorated our new home in Fairhope, Alabama. We celebrated our second anniversary in the new house in August. The house took 6 months to complete and I was on the site every day. It enabled me to lead my brother to Christ as he watched my daily dealings with problems that came into the build. The house contains one of the largest art projects I have undertaken to date, with a floor to ceiling mosaic filling my new bathroom. I also created backsplashes in the kitchen and stained concrete floors. I am grateful to be allowed to participate in the world of art. I am using my works to bring others to Christ who has given me the wonderful talents he has bestowed upon me.
